What if I don't know the ring size?

Don't worry—it's a very common question, especially if you're planning a surprise proposal.

If you're based in London, you're very welcome to visit my studio by appointment, where I'll measure your ring size in person. If you're unable to visit, you can order a ring sizer for a more accurate measurement, or refer to the Ring Size Guide, available on every product page and in the website footer.

If you're still unsure, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm always happy to advise on the best approach.

Most rings can be resized after purchase if needed. Your first resize is complimentary, with any additional resizes charged at £80. Please note that once a ring has been resized, it is no longer eligible for return.

Custom, Bespoke and Resetting

Can existing designs be customised?

Yes. Every piece in my collection can be customised to suit your preferences. You can choose your preferred precious metal as well as the type, size, and colour of gemstones.

Many designs can also be adapted with small design changes, such as adding or reducing the number of stones or making other subtle adjustments. I'll guide you through the available options to create a piece that feels personal while staying true to the original design.

Can I commission a bespoke piece?

Yes. I offer a full bespoke service, creating one-of-a-kind jewellery designed especially for you.

Every bespoke commission begins with a conversation. Together, we explore your ideas, carefully chosen gemstones, and the colours, light and composition that will shape your piece. Throughout the journey, I'll guide you through each stage of the process, creating a jewel that feels deeply personal while remaining true to my artistic approach.

Whether you're looking for an engagement ring, remodelling a treasured heirloom, or creating a completely new piece, every commission is individually designed and handcrafted in recycled solid gold.

Please note that completely bespoke commissions have a minimum spend of £3,000, reflecting the time, care and craftsmanship dedicated to each project.

You can learn more about the process on the Bespoke Journey page.

What is a difference between customisation and a bespoke commision?

A customised piece is an existing design from my collection that is adapted to suit your preferences. This can include changing the precious metal, selecting different gemstones (type, size, or colour), or making small design adjustments, such as adding or reducing the number of stones.

A bespoke commission is a completely original piece, designed and handcrafted specifically for you. I'll guide you through every stage of the process—from the initial design consultation and stone sourcing to the finished piece—ensuring your jewellery perfectly reflects your vision.

Please note that bespoke commissions have a minimum spend of £3,000 due to the additional time and care involved. The process typically takes 8–14 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and the time required to source gemstones.

For more information about the services I offer, please visit The Bespoke Journey on my website.

What metals do you work with?

All of my collection pieces are handcrafted in solid recycled 14 carat (585) gold as standard.

All designs can also be made to order in 9 or 18 carat gold—available in yellow, white, or rose gold—as well as platinum. If you're looking for a specific metal or finish, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Can I choose my own gemstones?

Yes. I can source gemstones specifically for you.

Following an initial consultation—either in person, online, or via email—I'll gain an understanding of what you're looking for, including your preferred gemstone type, colour, size, and budget. I'll then present you with a carefully selected range of gemstones that match your requirements, allowing you to choose the one that's right for you.

Please note that the final price of your piece will vary depending on the gemstones you select.

I don't live in London. Can I commission a piece remotely?

Yes. I'm happy to work remotely with clients and regularly create bespoke jewellery for customers across the UK and around the world.

Whether you're unable to visit my London studio or simply prefer to work remotely, I can guide you through every stage of the process via video call, email, or phone. If you're selecting gemstones, I'll provide detailed photos and videos of each stone, photographed in a variety of lighting conditions, so you can accurately assess their colour, character, and sparkle before making your choice.

From the initial consultation and design development to gemstone selection and progress updates, I'll ensure you feel informed and confident throughout your commission.

Please get in touch to arrange a remote consultation.

How long does a bespoke commission take?

The bespoke process typically takes 8–14 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and the time required to source your chosen gemstones.

The initial stages—including design consultation, design development, and gemstone sourcing—can vary from project to project. Once you've approved the final design and selected your gemstones, production takes approximately 5 weeks.

If you have a specific deadline in mind, please get in touch before starting your commission. I'll always do my best to accommodate your timeframe where possible.

What is the cost of a bespoke piece?

Fully bespoke commissions start from £3,000 (or £800 for bespoke wedding bands in 9ct), reflecting the time, care and craftsmanship dedicated to creating a completely unique piece.

During your consultation, we'll discuss your ideas as well as the budget you're comfortable with. Every bespoke commission is individually priced, depending on the design, the gemstones and the precious metals chosen.

If you're customising one of my existing designs, the price is based on the original piece and will vary according to the gemstones and metal selected.

I'm always happy to suggest options that work within your budget while staying true to the design and artistic vision. If you have a budget in mind, please feel comfortable sharing it—we'll explore the possibilities together.

Can you remodel my existing jewellery?

Can my existing gold or platinum be reused?

Yes. If you have unwanted jewellery in solid gold or platinum, I offer two options, depending on what you'd like to achieve.

If you simply wish to trade in your jewellery, it can be valued based on the current market value of its precious metal content (scrap value). This credit can then be used towards a piece from the collection or a bespoke commission. Please note that this valuation reflects the value of the precious metal only, not the original purchase price or craftsmanship of the jewellery.

If your jewellery has sentimental value and you'd like to incorporate your own gold or platinum into a new piece, this may also be possible. Reusing existing precious metal requires additional specialist processes and careful craftsmanship, so it is offered as a separate service and does not reduce the overall cost of your commission. We'll be happy to discuss the options during your consultation and advise whether it's suitable for your project.

Can you use my heirloom gemstones?

Yes. I can work with your heirloom gemstones as part of your bespoke commission.

You can choose to create a piece entirely using your own stones, or combine your heirloom gemstones with newly sourced stones if required for the design. The approach is entirely up to you and may influence the final design.

We'll discuss your preferences during the initial consultation, and I'll advise on the best way to incorporate your gemstones while ensuring the finished piece is both beautiful and durable.

Can wedding bands be made to fit my engagement ring?

Absolutely. Every engagement ring is unique, and I can create a wedding band that complements it beautifully.

Whether you're pairing a band with one of my designs or an existing ring, I'll carefully consider the shape, proportions and overall balance to ensure the two pieces sit comfortably together and feel harmonious when worn.

From gently contoured bands to completely bespoke designs, each wedding band is handcrafted to celebrate your engagement ring while remaining beautiful in its own right.

Can I have my jewellery engraved?

Yes. Engraving is available for many of my pieces and is a beautiful way to add a personal touch, whether it's a meaningful date, initials or a short message.

If you'd like to add an engraving, simply leave the details in the Notes section at checkout. I'll then be in touch to discuss the options, including suitable fonts, placement and the final cost.

As a guide, engraving of up to 15 characters (such as a date or initials) starts from £95. More extensive engravings will be quoted individually.

About the Jewels

How do I care for my jewellery?

I create jewellery to be worn, loved and enjoyed every day. I primarily work with diamonds, sapphires and rubies—exceptionally durable gemstones that are well suited to everyday wear. Like all fine jewellery, however, each piece deserves a little care to preserve its beauty for years to come.

To help protect your jewellery, I recommend removing it before manual work, sport, gardening or using household cleaning products. It's also best to take your jewellery off before swimming or showering.
Chemicals such as chlorine and bleach can damage precious metals and stones over time, while everyday products including soap, lotions and cosmetics can leave a film on gemstones, reducing their brilliance until cleaned.

When you're not wearing your jewellery, store it separately in its original box or a soft jewellery pouch to help prevent scratches.

Regular cleaning will keep your gemstones bright and full of light. Simply soak your jewellery in warm water with a small amount of washing-up liquid, gently clean it with a very soft toothbrush, then rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

As with all fine jewellery, settings naturally experience wear over time. I recommend checking your stones occasionally by gently seeing if there is any movement with your finger or a wooden toothpick. If you notice anything unusual, please stop wearing the piece and contact me. I'll be happy to inspect the setting and tighten it if needed.

Because many of the gemstones I use are individually selected and one of a kind, I recommend insuring your jewellery against accidental loss or damage. While I will always do my best to source a similar replacement if a stone is lost, an identical match cannot always be guaranteed.

I design my jewellery to be worn for a lifetime and beyond. I also offer a repair and maintenance service, with each piece assessed individually.

Do you work with lab grown or natural diamonds?

I work with both natural and lab-grown diamonds, depending on your preferences and the requirements of the design.

Throughout my collections, you'll find pieces created with natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, and sometimes a combination of both. Every product description clearly states whether the diamonds are natural, lab-grown or mixed, and identifies which stones are which. All of my designs can also be customised using either natural or lab-grown diamonds.

Both are real diamonds with the same chemical composition and share the same beauty and brilliance. The choice often comes down to personal preference, taking into account factors such as budget, rarity, sentiment and individual views on sustainability.

Whatever you choose, I carefully select each diamond for its colour, character and quality, ensuring it sits beautifully within the overall composition of the piece.

If you're unsure which option is right for you, I'd be delighted to talk you through the differences and help you make an informed decision based on what matters most to you.

Do you provide certification for your gemstones?

I choose my gemstones for their exceptional beauty, colour, character and cut, rather than whether they have been certified. My priority is always finding the stone that best suits the design and composition.

Some gemstones and diamonds are supplied with certificates, and where this is the case, it will always be stated in the product description.

If certification is important to you, I'm happy to source certified diamonds or gemstones, or arrange for a stone to be independently certified where appropriate. Please note that certification significantly adds to the cost of the stone and, consequently, the finished piece.

If you'd like to discuss the options, I'd be delighted to advise you during your consultation.

Is you gold recycled?

Yes. All of my jewellery is made using 100% recycled precious metals. The casting is carried out by specialist partners who use only recycled precious metals, allowing me to reduce the environmental impact of each piece without compromising on quality or durability.

Why do you work mainly with diamonds and sapphires?

I choose these gemstones for two reasons: their exceptional beauty and their ability to withstand a lifetime of everyday wear.

Sapphires are among the hardest and most durable gemstones, second only to diamonds in hardness. They are wonderfully suited to rings that are made to be worn every day, while their extraordinary depth and richness of colour are what truly draw me to them.

Sapphires come in an extraordinary range of hues, and each stone has its own particular character. I am especially drawn to blue, green and teal, but also to delicate pinks, peach and yellow tones. The most beautiful sapphires seem almost to contain several colours at once, revealing subtle shifts in shade as the light changes. There is a depth and individuality to them that I find endlessly mesmerising.

Diamonds have a different kind of magic. Their luminosity and sparkle bring movement and light to a composition, but I am equally drawn to the extraordinary range of delicate natural and lab-grown diamond colours available. Beyond white, there are the softest lemon and earthy yellows, subtle greens, champagne and warm beige tones, through to deeper desert browns. These understated hues can be incredibly sophisticated and evocative.

Rubies, which belong to the same gemstone family as sapphires, share their excellent durability. I am drawn to their intensity and warmth, and select them for the particular colour and presence they bring to a composition.

All three are excellent choices for a ring intended to be worn every day, for life. They can withstand the knocks of everyday wear and are highly resistant to scratching, although no gemstone is completely unbreakable.

For me, this combination of beauty, colour, light and durability makes these gemstones particularly special. They allow me to create jewellery that is visually delicate and ethereal, yet made to become part of everyday life.

Are all your pieces one of a kind?

Every piece of jewellery is handcrafted by me, making each one inherently unique.

I carefully select every gemstone for its individual colour, character and beauty. Many of the sapphires and coloured diamonds I work with are naturally one of a kind, displaying subtle variations in hue, tone and luminosity that cannot be exactly replicated. For this reason, no two pieces will ever be identical.

If you're commissioning a bespoke piece or customising one of my existing designs, I'll carefully source gemstones that capture the same overall feeling and colour palette, rather than attempting to find an exact match. Each composition is thoughtfully arranged around the centre stone, allowing the colours, proportions and balance of the piece to emerge naturally.

As a result, slight variations in gemstone colour, size and metal finish are to be expected. These differences are not imperfections—they are part of the individuality and beauty that define my work.

If you have specific preferences for colour, tone or gemstone characteristics, I'd be delighted to discuss them with you before your piece is created.

Where can I see and try on your jewellery?

If you're in London, you can book a private appointment to view and try on jewellery from my current collection. Appointments offer a relaxed, one-to-one experience where you can explore pieces in person, discuss fit and styling, and ask any questions before making a purchase.

If you're unable to visit, I also work with clients remotely and can provide detailed photos, videos, measurements, and guidance to help you choose the right piece.

Selected pieces are also available to view and purchase through my stockist, Tomfoolery at 109 Fortis Green Road, Muswell Hill, London N10 3HP. These pieces can be purchased both in-store and online.
Where applicable, you'll find a link to the Tomfoolery online store on the individual product page, just above the product name and in the Availability section.

If you need an appointment outside of these hours or at the weekend, please get in touch. I'll be happy to arrange an alternative time and location where possible to accommodate your schedule.

Can I come to try on pieces that are currently in stock?

Yes, you're very welcome to book an appointment to view and try on pieces that are currently in stock.

Can consultations be held online?

Yes. I work with clients from all over the world, and many of my bespoke commissions are created remotely.

We can arrange an online consultation to talk through your ideas, preferences and any questions you may have. From there, I'll guide you through the design process remotely, sharing proposals, photographs and videos of gemstones and designs as they develop.

Because colour and light are such an important part of my work, I take particular care when photographing gemstones. I'll send images and videos taken in different lighting conditions to give you as accurate a sense as possible of their colour, depth and luminosity before you make your choice.

We'll stay in close contact throughout the process, so you can be involved in each important decision even if you can't visit the studio in person.

If you'd like to arrange an online consultation, I'd be delighted to hear from you.

Appraisals, Warranty and Repairs

Do you offer warranty on your jewellery?

Yes. All of my jewellery is covered by a one-year warranty, valid from the date of delivery, giving you peace of mind that your piece has been made to the highest standard.

If a fault arises during the warranty period, I'll repair it at no cost. The warranty is valid provided the piece has not been worked on by another jeweller and the damage is not beyond what would be considered reasonable wear and tear.

The warranty does not cover accidental damage, loss, misuse, improper care, or excessive wear.

After the one-year warranty period, I'm happy to assess any repair on a case-by-case basis and provide a quote before any work is carried out.

If you ever have concerns about your jewellery, please get in touch—I'm always happy to help.

Can you provide a valuation for my insurance?

I can provide a valuation certificate for insurance purposes once your purchase is complete. This service is available only for orders in which I supply all materials, including the metal and gemstones.

If your piece incorporates heirloom stones, I would be happy to recommend an independent valuer who can provide this service. Please email me for more details.

Do you offer resizing or repairs?

All ring purchases include one complimentary resize within three months of delivery. Any additional resizing is charged at £80 per resize.

Please note that some rings can only be resized by a limited amount (typically 1–2 sizes) depending on the design of the piece. Please email me for advice before requesting a resize.

I'm always happy to repair and recondition my pieces to help you continue enjoying your jewellery for years to come.

Repairs are assessed on a case-by-case basis, so please get in touch with details of your piece and I'll advise on the best course of action and how to return your jewellery for repair.
